Diwali is one of the biggest Hindu holidays and is called the Celebration of Light. It symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
Before this 5-day celebration, families will clean their homes and decorate them with colorful diyas (tiny oil lamps) and rangolis (colorful decorative circles made from rice powder). They wear the finest clothes in bright colors and eat many tiny sweets. Family and friends feast and exchange gifts.
This holiday is linked to the goddess of prosperity, Lakshmi, who is said to have helped create the universe with her husband, the god Vishnu.
This year Diwali began on November 1st and MOLO celebrated with a presentation, food and dancing.
